31 mensen raken gewond bij ongevallen in de buurt van Makkah

MADINAH / TAIF – Bij twee verkeersongevallen in Medina en Taif zijn zaterdag eén pelgrim omgekomen en 31 anderen raakten gewond. Eén vrouwelijke pelgrim stierf bij een ongeval op de autosnelweg tussen Medina en Mekka.


In Mawiya in de buurt van Taif is een passagiersbus gebotst tegen een vrachtwagen, daarbij vielen 14 personen gewond. De ambulancedienst was met spoed naar de plek van het ongeval en verleende hulp aan de gewonde passagiers.




MADINAH/TAIF: A pilgrim was killed and 31 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Madinah and Taif on Saturday. A female pilgrim died in an accident on Madinah-Makkah Expressway Saturday morning when a bus carrying 26 pilgrims overturned after hitting a signboard. The accident occurred around 9.30 a.m., said a Civil Defense official at the scene.

Civil Defense rescuers reached the scene of the accident soon after being contacted and removed injured passengers trapped inside the bus. Col. Mansour Al-Johani, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Madinah, said 17 other people were injured in the accident.

In Mawiya, near Taif, a passenger bus and a truck collided on the Riyadh-Taif Road, injuring 14 people. The bus hit the rear of the truck when its Pakistani driver dozed off. Witnesses said all passengers were Asians and included a woman and three children.Civil Defense and Red Crescent officials rushed to the accident site and provided first aid to the injured passengers.

Three people sustained serious injuries according to Saeed Al-Zahrani, a spokesman for Taif health department.
